Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is located between La Jolla and Del Mar, north of the City of San Diego, California.
From either direction on I-5, take the Carmel Valley Road exit and drive west for about 1.5 miles until you reach Camino Del Mar. Turn left (go south) and proceed along the beach for about half a mile. The entrance is on your right just before the road begins to climb up the North Torrey Pines grade.
For the North Parking lot: If the South lot is full, turn around and go back to Carmel Valley Rd., turn right, then turn right again onto McConigle Road and that will take you right into the North parking lot. Pay your fees at the fee kiosk and put the ticket onto the dash of your car. To get to the trail go toward the beach and take the pedestrian ramp up to the main highway. Walk on the beach side for one mile to the South Parking lot. You will see the lot and all the people walking on the trail.

What happens when the weather does not co-operate: We will never go hiking in inclement weather (storms, lightning, thunder, possible flash floods, icy roads etc).
